Supply Chain •  Logistics  •  Autonomous Technology

Dr Safaa Sindi is an Assistant Professor in Future Transport Logistics at Coventry University. Her core research expertise focuses on strategic supply chain modelling and the application of disruptive technologies to logistics operations. By integrating business management principles with engineering solutions, she researches the operational integration and safety of connected and autonomous vehicles into mixed-fleet supply chains. This work directly supports the research area of Future Transport Systems by examining the commercial viability, safety protocols, and infrastructure requirements for autonomous road haulage, as well as the logistical considerations of electric vehicle adoption and battery lifecycle management.

Her work also supports research priorities in Human Factors and Design for Transport. She applies ergonomics methodologies to assess human-machine interaction in automated logistics environments. This includes evaluating the deployment of autonomous systems and drones across commercial, humanitarian, medical, and disaster relief operations. A central element of her research approach involves system development and the use of multidimensional models to test supply chain environments prior to physical implementation.

In her teaching practice, Safaa investigates the use of immersive technology, simulation, and gamification to enhance higher education pedagogy and professional skills development. She draws on her previous operational and logistics experience with manufacturers such as Jaguar Land Rover and Ransomes to inform both her curriculum design and research trajectory, providing a grounded industrial perspective to her academic work.
